May 16th, 2013 Coordinate and Star Trek II: Into the Darkness

Yesterday after making quick plans with friends to see Star Trek II: Into the Darkness and to grab some food I had to get dressed pretty quickly but I put together a nice outfit in my opinion. While it isn't like my normal coordinates, I wanted to go for more of a dressed down look but still retain my style as well as being able to wear the vest I bought in England.

For dinner before our movie we went to a place called So Long Saloon. I'd never been there before. The inside was really tiny without much seating but the wait staff was very friendly and we managed to sit at the bar. The actual bar was decorated with little skeletons everywhere that seemed to be from Dio de los Muertos or Day of the Dead so it was kind of cute. I'd had a big lunch so I wasn't particularly hungry but I decided to get a drink and a snack. I went with a coffee and Frangelico and some French fries. The fries were crispy to perfect and thin with the right amount of salt. The coffee and Frangelico was so good I almost didn't even need sugar and creamer. I was pleasantly surprised because going in, it really wasn't my kind of scene but what I had was pretty amazing. I plan to go back there and get a drink or two in the future. If you ever find yourself in Manhattan, Kansas try it out!


Watching Star Trek II was really fun. It was a good movie with just the right subtle humor I like. However, unlike the first one, I wasn't completely blown away and I didn't find it to be an impactful film. It wasn't as good as the first in my opinion but it was still really good. All of the actors did superb jobs and their acting was amazing. Benedict Cumberbatch was especially good and I'm not just saying that because I find it freaking awesome. His slight facial expressions mixed with the mood were really good. He was a really good Khan. It will be a film I buy for my collection which is small and limited to my absolute favorite movies. It is up there in favorites but I hold true to my resolution that it wasn't 100% awesome. It was only about 95%.

May 14th, 2013 Goth Pop Coordinate

 

I call this coordinate the Goth Pop as it's like J-pop but more goth in the accessories and almost all black. I know, I'm making shit up here! I don't care. Today my plans are to go have some good food, grocery shop, and find stuff for my gerbils at the pet store since they didn't have what I was looking for last time. I'm prolly getting my hopes up but I don't care.

 Due to my living conditions, if I want to go out and get food or if I felt the need to have a smoke, it would mean going outside where people I work with can see me which is a bit awkward so I tend to always dress up if I'm leaving my room. So, while I'm not dressed up to go anywhere in particular, I went to the Dfac to eat and then hung out with friends after work a bit.

 

  

I particularly love this dress/T-shirt.I wear it a lot. It's more slenderizing in person than in photos but with a cute pair of shorts underneath, no need to worry about flashing or anything going up the stairs.

May 10th, 2013 Coordinate

 

Friday I went with my friend to go eat. We had plans to try a new pizza place but when we arrived, we found out that it was a take-out only and I wanted to sit down. So, we altered our plans and ate at Noodles and Company. I eat there way way too much. After that, we attempted to buy more sand for my gerbils but the pet store was out! It just wasn't our day. After that though, things went better. We went to Hy-vee and I bought fruit, soda, and we both bought cakes which we ate in the car on the way home. Then, we finished up a semi-successful day by playing Call of Duty: Black Ops II Zombies on the xbox for almost 7 hours. It was a really fun day.

 Today is one of my bestie-buds birthdays! So in celebration, we're going to eat at Cracker Barrel. It isn't anything fancy nor really a reason to get dressed up super nice in Lolita but I felt like it and so I'm presenting my outfit to you.

I guess I just love Innocent World. I bought all of them intentionally/ individually from IW and then I got the JSK from my Lucky Pack B I bought. I'm happy it fit and was really surprised more than anything because honestly it wasn't a dress I was in major favor of when I was browsing for new JSK's. It was one of those moments where it looks better in person than in the picture on the dress form. Also, it's nice cause it fits my larger bust!

Lockshop Ball-jointed Doll Tights review

One of my style icons/people I stalk via Google Blogger is Finblog. I really like her style of dress and I've seen her wearing Lockshops BJD tights a lot lately and I finally craved and bought a pair. I hadn't in the past due to cost as they are pretty pricey but I really wanted them. They've always piqued my interest of looking kind of like a doll. And so, I broke down and finally bought a pair.

The package arrived today in the post and I picked them up in excitement and couldn't wait to get them home and try them on and see what they were like. The tights were packaged nicely and securely and inside was the tights, a business card, and a copy of my order. I was a bit surprised to find that it was coming from The Netherlands since I had a misconception about Lockshop being from the UK.

 

Opening the tights, the texture was pretty silky. I noticed that the material is pretty thin. In the U.S. tights are normally a bit thicker but while thin, they seem to be pretty sturdy and put on, the thin quality actually helps because it makes your legs look smoother and more like a doll's porcelain skin. You can see the difference in the picture above and below this paragraph. One has the tights on, one has the tights off. My favorite part of the fit of the tights is how softly and un-constricting the tights lay around the waist.

 

The back and front side of the tights are different so you can tell which side is worn in which direction. While I really enjoy the look the tights give to my legs, I REALLY like the side view. It's detailed and looks like dolls legs especially when you bend your legs as seen below. I do feel like I'm going to have to be extra cautious with them such as hand-washing them or washing them on cold in the machine and hang-drying them. The ink had rubbed off a bit on the cardboard that smoothed the tights out.

I'm really happy with the tights over all. My biggest complaint not yet spoken of is the lack of length above the knees. I have pretty long thighs. I don't think they are much longer than anyone taller than me but I was worried about pulling up the tights any higher to fit more properly around the waist in case the BJD part didn't lay over my knees. I'm pretty sure it isn't because of my thighs being fat or anything. But, I like the tights. I can't wait to wear them out with my New Rocks somewhere fun. Maybe this weekend even if my plan for Friday doesn't go accordingly.
