Lolita 52 (Sounds like Catch 22): My first meetup

My question to start this challenge with is My first meetup. It's kinda like My Little Pony but not. I still remember my first meetup though. It was a complete disaster for fashion on my end. I actually deleted the photo I had of our group because it was so bad. I do that all the time though so I suppose it isn't really a good gauge for the meetup.

I believe I was actually the planner for this meetup back when I started Austin Lolitas (Yes, I AM the founder but when I quit I passed along the reigns). I chose a place in North Austin since I knew there were more Lolitas up in that area. The locale was this place called Zen's, a Japanese fast food place which is really just noodle bowls. I really like to eat there so I hoped everyone would. It seemed like they did which was a big plus of the afternoon.

I wasn't really new to Lolita but I was a broke college student and didn't have money and I was still back in my beginning sewing phase but I decided to make a dress and it was going to be oh so unique and pretty. Well, the dress was wearable in this pretty blue fabric but it was pretty poorly made and very un-lolita with dirty white boots and non-matching panty-hose to go with the monstrosity. My hair was limp and ugly and un-styled.

While I completely regret my choice in clothes and should have at least worn Bodyline, for all it's ugly 2008 glory, the girls who showed up were the nicest Lolitas a girl could ask to meet. I mean, they weren't your atypical extremely well-dressed, super pricey clothes Lolitas I see these days at meetups. In fact, most of them were older and not specifically Lolita only. But, I had a REALLY good time for all my nerves. With only five but a first meetup for a brand new group, I think it was a smashing hit. Most meetups since have been filled with catty girls who don't treat their brand like real clothes because of the price which makes it not quite as fun. I prefer one to two girl meetups where we go ice skating and enjoy ourselves in cute clothes or Karaoke parties involving mixed drinks in some Korean dive bar.

If you can't tell from this post, my feelings were all over the place at this party. I was dressed so badly and I had so much fun. It's how it should really be.
